What a beautiful day Wednesday started out. This is the day I set off for The World Internet Summit in
London.
As I only live in
Bolton I decided to travel by train! As I haven’t used the rail service for over 20 years I wasn’t sure just what to expect.
I was pleasantly surprised at how much the rail service has improved over the years, the staff were all very friendly and helpful, the trains ran on time, everything was clean and in good condition and most importantly the communication was very good.
Going back to the last time I used a train the communication was really awful. The speaker system volume was too loud causing bad distortion and the announcer also appeared to shout down the microphone making the distortion worse. You never actually knew if you were getting on the right train as destination displays quite often were left blank.
Well it looks like some good training and modern technology has worked wonders. The audio system both in the station and on the train were crisp and clear without distortion, the visual displays all being digital now are very readable, communication is very good in comparison.
That’s something to think about when communicating with your potential customer.
Make your visual information sharp and easy readable; coming quickly to the point of giving the information your prospect/customer is looking for.
- Splash/ squeeze pages good headline immediately giving instruction and action point is all that’s required.
- Audio if used : crisp clear and quickly giving relevant information
- Video : quickly grab attention keep all content relevant and quick moving.
Just some of my thoughts whilst travelling.
I will post reports of the event tomorrow.

P.S. I am doing this one daily, the BritPack reports went into my roundtoit I have started on them and will be posting those too.
Till the next time John
